Amalfi

 

Amalfi is placed along one of the most famous stretch of Salerno coast, in a splendid scenic position. The town keeps some important past testimonies: the cathredal consecrated to S.Andrea; the Paradise cloister, a charming construction in the Arabian style that dates from the XIII century and the ruins of the republican naval dockyards where during the most splendour period of the town, big and fast ships were built. The greatness of its monuments, the charm of its architectures with tangled alleys and its typical white small houses, the beauties of nature, the mildness and the equipped receptive structures make Amalfi one of the most famous destination for the national and international tourism.

 

Pompei

 

Pompei is a small centre of Naples, situated on a buttress of the Vesuvius  It has developped around the sanctuary founded in 1876 by Bartolo Longo and buried by the volcanic eruption in 79 AD. The town covered of a layer of ashes, after some centuries, was discovered by chance;the excavations begin in 1748 thanks to Carlo di Borbone and lead methodically during the XIX century, they have not been interrupted since then. Discovered for almost 3/5 of its total extension it offers with Ercolano and Stabia the most extraordinary testimony of everyday life as well as public and private buildings of the past world. The ruins are kept in the national archeological museum of Naples

 

Positano

 

Postano is placed along a beautiful stretch of Salerno coast, in the centre of the gulf composed by Punta Germano in the west  and Capo Sottile in the east and in a splendid scenic position. Positano, praised by famous poets and writers and immortalized by painters from all over the world, it is today one of the most interesting places of Amalfi coast . In its enchanting centre there is the parish church of S.Maria Assunta with a splendid majolica dome among small white houses and blooming gardens .Positano, very famous for the flourishing handicrafts and the fashion, combines in a perfect way the beauty of the landscapes, the beaches (marina Grande, Ciumicello, La Porta, Arienzo and Fornillo) and the charm of the old sea suburbs.

Sorrento

Sorrento is situated along the southern side of the Naples gulf, in a splendid scenic position. Its name comes from the mermaids, the legendary creatures which melodies bewitched the sailors. It was the favourite holiday place of the roman aristocracy that built  there some grandiose villas and in the XIX century it became a favourite destination for artists, men of letters and musicians from all over the world who were inspired by the beauty of its panoramas and by the pleasantness of its landscapes. Sorrento is provided with equipped bathings like this of marina Grande.

 

Vico Equense

 

Vico Equense , situated along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Naples coast between Sorrento and Castellamare di Stabia,  was set up by Carlo II d’Angiò. Today it is a famous tourist destination, provided with modern receptive structures and equipped bathings.

Vico Equense keeps some important past testimonies: the ex-cathredal (or Annunziata church)which is the only example of gothic church in the Sorrento peninsula; Giusso castle founded by  Carlo II d’Angiò and an interesting Antiquarium that keeps archaeological material of a necropolis. Thanks to the position Vico Equense is an ideal place for pleasant excursions.

 

Vesuvio

 

The Vesuvius is the only active volcano in Europe. During its eruptive activity it has had alternate phase of effusion with esplosive phases reaching the present height of 1281 m. There were unforgettable eruptions in the past: in 79 AD that destroyed Pompei, Ercolano and Stabia; in 1631 that destroyed the south volcanic towns and in 1906. The natural habitat of the Vesuvius is protected by the National Park since 1995 ,it has  a Mediterranean vegetation with chestnut woods, maples, ilex, alders and oaks.

 

Capri

 

Capri is situated opposite Sorrento peninsula ,in one of the most charming place of Naples and Italy. The island, divided in 2 communes :Capri and Anacapri, presents prevalently mountainous territory with 2 principle montain: Tiberio in the east and Solaro in the west. Its coast are interposed by 65 fascinating caves and by reefs as the very famous “Grotta azzurra” or the “Faraglioni” which have became the symbol of Capri.  Many artists and intellectuals have been inspired by the island since the XIX century.

 

Ischia

 

Ischia,the biggest island in Campania is placed opposite the gulf of Naples. It’s of volcanic origin and presents a prevalently montainous territori; its hightest montain is Epaneo.

The coast are interposed by enchanting coves and wonderful bays.

Ischia is called “Green Island” for its Mediterranean vegetation and “health Island” for the thermal baths. The island ,with its nature, culture, traditions, history and myths, is one of the most famous destinations for tourists from all over the world.

 

Procida

 

Procida is placed in the north part of the gulf  between the promontory of capo Miseno and ischia, It is of volcanic origin and presents a level territory with an only  high ground: Terra Murata.

The very irregular, high and steep coats are also large and sandy .Covered by a rich vegetation, Procida offers very beautiful landscapes.
